Red Plate Monday Ride Report 21-07-25

The Sporting Motorcycle Club’s “Red Plate Monday” ride embarked today, Monday, July 21st, 2025, with a destination set for Winchelsea.

A robust contingent of 21 enthusiastic riders braved the chilly morning air, ready for a morning on the open road.

The ride was expertly led by Ross Johnston, whose familiarity with the local roads ensured a smooth and enjoyable journey. Bringing up the rear, and providing crucial support, was Freddie “Goldwing” Vella, whose reliable presence is always a welcome sight on the Monday rides.

The morning started with a distinctly crisp bite, reminding everyone that we are still deep in winter.

However, the initial cold was quickly forgotten amidst the usual pre-ride banter and the comforting rumble of engines.

Adding a touch of traditional club humor to the proceedings, Guzzi Phil was presented with the coveted “pig’s ear” award. This lighthearted acknowledgment was bestowed upon him for an unfortunate incident the previous week, where his Daimler required a jump start.

All riders arrived safely in Winch and enjoyed a hot drink at Kenty’s Bakery Cafe.

Thanks to Ross for leading and Fred for tailing, thanks to Guy for the report and photos, and thanks to everyone who came along, hope to see you on the next one.
