Red Plate Monday Ride Report – 15-09-25
22 keen riders for today’s ride, the question was asked and Ross Johnson threw up Birregurra, so Birregurra it was.
Ross led the group and Goldy Vella took on the tail riders duties, Regroup at Ceres and then all the way along Barrabool rd over the Colac Hwy onto Consadines rd then onto Cape Otway rd proceeding to Birregurra and the General Store for Coffee and man fuels- (Pies, cakes etc of various combinations).
Wonderful conversations and banter was heard as the morning sun kept us warm and vocal.
Perfect opportunity to conduct a quick census of the twenty two and we had a combined age total as a group of 1483 years of experience and a average age of 67.40 years.
Lots of great bikes as the following photos show.
There were four Honda’s that needed a longer run and they took the opportunity to ride to Lorne and have stop for a quick Jaffel and drink.
Thanks for a cracka day lads

Phil & Grossy Road and Dirt Ride – Report 14-09-25
Ride report Phil & Grossy’s Annual Road ‘N’Dirt ride – 2025
Another super successful Ride day for the SMCC, all the hard work put in by Phil and Grossy paying off.
The Road ride component was well attended with about 21 riders heading off from the clubrooms at 9:30am with President Jim leading & Fred tailing the group out through Ceres, across to the Hamilton Highway via Merrawarp Rd, out to Inverleigh (& Picking up Peter Attwood), across into Winch for a fuel top up via Barwon Park Rd, out into Ombersley, Wingeel, Eurack before pulling into Beeac to stretch the legs, decaffeinate, grab some lollies from the Snowballs Ice Cream and Lollies Beeac (I couldn’t resist!).
As the wind continued to pickup we headed towards Alvie with a quick detour up Red Rock to take in the Amazing views towards Colac, Camperdown & the Western District
Skirting around the edge of the Corangamite Lake before rejoining the Colac – Ballarat Rd, through Cressy, Rokewood, Corindhap, Dereel, before meeting the Dirt Group just after 12:30pm where Grossy has the BBQ churning out the snags & Wendy’s world famous scones being keenly devoured, and this year Wendy treating everyone to a lavish range of scones including chocolate, dates, just to name a few, all being served with freshly whipped real cream and jam, delicious !..
By this time the Dirt riders had completed their course too and were giving the snags and scones and good nudge too.
All Road and Dirt riders completing their respective routes without any major incidents, apart from 1 road rider running on vapors (after needing to use the afterburner into the very strong winds) when finishing the ride and needing to limp into Napoleons for a quick refuel before pulling into the BBQ, Magoo scoring a flat on the dirt ride and showed off his tyre changing skills before completing the route.
One stand our performance was from the Club’s (and possibly Australia’s) only Ice Speedway Racer Andrew Barrett who did the dirt course on his Mountain bike ! and completing the dirt course in a very competitive time, well done Andrew.
Big Thanks again to Phil and Grossy for organizing the ride, Wendy for making the delicious scones for everyone again, Jim for leading, Fred for tailing & everyone who participated in this very successful day.
