Monday Red Plate Report 01-04-24

Report prepared by Wayne Berry – Thanks Wayne 👍👍

With the usual leaders absent I ended up leading today’s Easter Monday Red Plate ride with Al riding shotgun.

12 riders including Glen Rowan a first timer departed our usual Barrabool Road meeting point after a brief delay when an obstinate XL600 refused to fire up.

In perfect conditions we made our way through Ceres, Pollocksford, Buckley to the Moriac General Store for refreshments and lots of motorcycle talk.

With rain predicted after lunch we relaxed until a large clap of thunder erupted over the shop signalling time to go.

Light rain started as we left and, thinking we were riding ahead of it I was surprised to find us riding into a heavy downpour with rain soon trickling through the leathers in the usual places 😮.

Great to see new riders and new bikes joining the group.

This morning saw a group of enthusiastic members meeting up at the Barrabool Rd meeting point, for the “Old Bikes” themed Red Plate Monday ride, the group greeted by near perfect riding conditions.

With an amazing range of old machines from a beautiful 1970s Honda Benly, Vintage BMW, Ariel Twin, through to a lovely Velocette.

The ride departed on time led by John Pierce who took the group out through the picturesque Maude Valley at a nice leisurely pace and then onto the final destination Lethbridge.

All machines (and riders) performed perfectly!, thanks to everyone involved.

Monday Red Plate Report 18-03-24

This morning a spirited group of 18 enthusiastic SMCC Members fired up their Red Plate machines.

After meeting up Led by the experienced and capable Mal, they embarked on an exhilarating ride through the scenic landscapes of Barrabool, Buckley, Wurdiboluc, and the Forest Road.

Their destination was the charming Poppies Nursery Cafe in Anglesea, a place renowned for its delightful coffee, delectable treats, and relaxing atmosphere.

After a relaxing break & good catch up, the riders headed back into town at a good pace, to get home before it got too hot.

Thanks Mal for leading the ride, thanks Wayne Berry for the photo and ride info.

Hope to see you on the next one.
