Monday Red Plate Ride Report 14-10-24
Lovely conditions greeted the group of SMCC members and their Red Plate Machines this morning.
With a group of approx 20 Riders turning out, This week members were encouraged to bring along their oldest or slowest bikes if possible.
With the idea that this ride could serve as a shake down for the upcoming end of year Sporty TT Ride.
With such a good turnout from members the group was divided up into two, the older and slower bikes and the newer machines.
Mal leading the older bike group to Moriac, with Guy leading the newer to meet at the Moriac General Store. Guy taking his group via Ceres, Inverleigh, Winchelsea & Cape Otway Rd then into Moriac where both groups enjoyed coffee & treats.
The Moriac stop giving the group time to go over there old bikes before making there way back into Geelong.
Another great ride, so good to see the older bikes getting dusted off. Thanks to Mal & Guy for leading and thanks to the Members who attended, great effort.
Thanks Don & Guy for photos and ride details 👍.

The riders briefing was held in light rain and was led by Guy with Mario providing the jokes.
I was nominated to lead the ride with Ross riding tail, fourteen riders in total, our departure was delayed by Guy who decided to put his waterproof pants on and it looked like he was wrestling a crocodile.
When finally done he had them on back to front and the rain had stopped anyway. (Definitely worthy of a pigs ear).
It was agreed we would have a shorter ride due to the weather and Moriac was agreed going via Pollocksford which has been closed for about 6 months however a member assured us it was now open.
We reassembled at Barrabool Road and left via Merrawarp Road onto the Hamilton Highway and out to Pollocksford Road which has a multitude of closed signs displayed.
We regrouped having lost one rider and decided Inverleigh was the new destination, We stopped at the Bakery for refreshments and used their new party room to shelter from the wind.
I was very unfairly awarded a pigs ear for not understanding Guys signals when a rider stopped, He has obviously never played Charades.
Not far down the road I noticed one of our crew having a discussion with a man who had a flashing blue light!

Monday Red Plate Ride Report 23-09-24
A group of 20 SMCC members braved the windy conditions today for the Monday Red Plate Ride, This weeks destination was the Anglesea General Store
With Ross Johnson Leading the ride & ever reliable Doug on his cafe racer as the tail rider, the group headed out through Ceres, With Ross trying to find Shelter from the wind for the group by heading South and keeping to tree lined roads.
With Ross’s expert leading the group made it safely to the Anglesea General Store in good time and avoided School Holiday makers heading down the coast,
The group found the General Store sheltered from the wind and bathed in warm sunshine, perfect for enjoying Coffee, Treats and the first class service.
Thanks Ross for leading and Doug for being tail, and thanks to all the members for tuning out and getting wind blown hair!
