2024 Poker Ride Report

What a fantastic Day !, One of the most successful club events for a long time, with 68 Riders registering today for this year’s SMCC Poker RIde.

Absolutely glorious conditions met the riders at 9am and continued throughout the day, the whole ride went off without a glitch, the corner marshalling system worked perfectly and all riders successfully collected their cards at the designated stops along the well set out and prepared route..

The Barrabool Hills and the Golden Plains provided spectacular views all the way from Geelong and into Anakie.

On Arrival at the Anakie General Store the group found the staff ready to go, employing what appeared to be ½ of Anakie to keep up with the barrage of orders, and they excelled, churning out espressos at a frantic pace. Thank you to all the Staff at the Anakie General Store.

Winners and Grinners and this year Mal went home smiling and holding a fist full of dollars after collecting the strongest hand for the day, 3 of a kind, 9 9 9. Well done Mal.

Another winner was Bruce Sherriff who received the “Pig’s Ear” award for the day, Bruce demonstrated his superior riding skills during the ride by passing the group including the lead rider !.
