The 2025 Boardy’s Cape Patton Rally – Ride Report

Another hugely successful outing for the SMCC today, with almost 40 Members meeting at the BP Waurn Ponds nice and early, with what seemed like a never ending variety of bikes on display, plus two optimistic convertibles, Beak in his Galaxy & Pete Attwood in his Type 3 Volksy.

The threatening weather was not a deterrent for the group, with Boardy rallying them up at 9:30am sharp, giving the run down on the rides route.

Heading out onto wet slippery roads and drizzling rain, which soon cleared as the group came over the top of the hill at Bellbrae.

Stopping in Anglsea to regroup before heading none stop through to Lorne, crawling through Lorne traffic and then stoking up their machines for the final climb up to Cape Patton.

With the Cape Patton Lookout to ourselves (briefly) we were able to admired the breathtaking views and do a debrief about the path just travelled.

One group recounting catching a slow moving Mazda car club and having to pick the right & legal location to overtake them in a safe manner.

After enough time to soak in the view and enjoy a good chat it was back in the saddle and return run to Kennet River for what turned out to be one of the best coffees I have had for a longtime, hot and strong, perfect to wash down my Raspberry and White Chocolate Muffin.

After a lengthy break most members departed Kennet River and made their own way back to town, Jim and a more adventurous group continued directly from Cape Patton towards Apollo Bay and then turning up through the Otways to Lavers Hill then back to Geelong.

A Big thanks for Andrew Boardman for organising another very successful event, thanks to Mark Swaby for driving the backup vehicle & trailer, and thanks to all the members who participated in the day making it an enjoyable day for everyone.
