Ride Reports

Red Plate Monday Ride Report 12-05-25

With today’s forecast being absolutely ideal for riding, an almost record breaking number of members turned out on there machines to soak in the Autumn weather.

With not two bikes the same, an amazing mix of machines it was decided to divided the group into two, the slower bikes and the not so slow bikes.

This decision was driven home when the group saw Boardy arrive on his newly finished Katana with it’s tyres still warm from a recent weekend at around Broadford, what a weapon,

Departing promptly and battling the town traffic before heading out onto the empty roads down into the Bellarine.

The not so slow group making there way down to (via some roads closed for roadworks) Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove, Indented Heads, finishing in Portarlington at the Pier St cafe were the friendly & efficient staff meticulously worked their way through the backlog of orders.

The coffee was great, food was excellent (Baked cheesecake was delicious !)

With a few events of note, Ross Bell’s Laverda running on only 2 cylinders requiring Ross to open up the big dellorto carbies to maintain a cruising speed, but a side effect that the hungry Laverda chewed through 15L to do only 80km and leaving Ross out of fuel within site of the Pier St cafe, with assistance from a fellow member Ross was soon arriving at the cafe along with a 5L Jerry Can strapped to the pillion seat.

The other event of note was when Brian O’Connor departure from Portarlington needing the assistance of two of our fittest members to give him push start due to a flat battery.

All in All another fantastic ride, thoroughly enjoyed by all 31 that attended, hope to see you on the next ride.
