What a great ride to Moriac this morning for Coffee, an interesting mix of bikes, and excellent coffee to top it off. Highly recommended for all members to come along on the Monday rides, always great fun.

Monday Red plate ride back on
Weekly Monday morning Red Plate Rides (really any vehicle welcome) are back on – Casual & Cruisy. Meet Barrabool Rd, just past the Macintyre walk bridge heading west towards Highton, on the right hand side of the road in the car park near the toilet block. Meet at 9.00am and depart 9.30am. Rides are very casual, usually pick a cafe / bakery in the area and away we go, always great fun.

Happy 89th Birthday to 1953 SMCC club champion – Dave Jeremiah
Happy 89th Birthday today (1/10/2021) to 1953 SMCC club champion Dave Jeremiah pictured here with his championship sash. Coincidentally David was born in 1932, the same year SMCC was foundered.

With lots of other mods, it was tuned up rather nicely and was a bit of a rocket ship.
Dave remembers the track out on the Melbourne Rd with a very sandy first corner and a really long back straight.
Once he came out of the first turn in the lead they couldn’t catch him on the almighty Ariel.

Thanks to our historic records custodians and generosity of former club members, we have managed to collate a variety of interesting club memorabilia. We are excited to be able to celebrate Daves milestone today and recognise him as one of the many champions who have contributed to the rich and diverse history of the Sporting Motorcycle Club over the past 89 years.
Altona Circuit: Short lived and sweet – Old Bike Australasia

If anyone has any suggestions as to a ride destination please let us know and we will discuss it at the next club meeting on 24/08/21.
Motocross plans kept alive despite secretive city rejection
A bid to build a motocross training facility in Fyansford isn’t going away without a fight, with the landowner lodging an official appeal against the city’s secretive decision to reject the proposal.

Monday Red Plate Rides On Hold
Unfortunately due to Victorian COVID lockdown #.5 & NSW removalists the Monday Red Plate rides are on hold until further notice, hopefully this lockdown doesn’t go on for long & we can get back to riding soon.
In the meantime, perfect opportunity for some bike maintenance hey. Hopefully see you soon.
