SMCC Club Ride Sunday 26/11/23

On Sunday, a small group of four riders set out on a pleasant ride to the Old Workshop at Anakie.

They rode through Ceres, Batesford, and Sutherlands Creek, before reaching the Bacchus Marsh Road and returning back to Anakie via Granite Road.

The total distance of the ride was around 100km, and the riders enjoyed the quiet roads and beautiful scenery until they arrived back into Geelong.

Allan Walker.

The Club received the very sad news this morning that our Dear friend, and dedicated SMCC member, Allan Walker has passed away after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Allan was a beloved member of the Sporting Motorcycle Club and a true friend to all who knew him.

Allan was always the first to lend a helping hand, whether it helping with a breakdown or offering a listening ear & advice or to help organise club events.

Allan was a passionate rider & motorcycle enthusiast and loved nothing more than hitting the open road with his friends rain, hail or shine.

Allan will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was a true friend, a great person to be around, and a joy to know. We will always cherish the times & rides we were lucky enough to have had with Allan and memories we have of him.

Ride on Allan.

SPORTING TT / End of Year Breakup Ride – 10/12/2023

The proposed Sporting T. T. (Tiddler Tour ) has been postponed until the 10/12/2023 due to the clash with the Geelong Revival. It will now be run in conjunction with the SMCC end of year breakup on 10/12/2023 both starting and finishing at our club rooms in Bellarine St, meeting around 9.00am with a departure time of 9.30.

We ask members to come along on the oldest or smallest capacity bikes they have access to for a fun ride around the Bellarine Peninsula, stopping at Barwon Heads for a coffee before heading back to the clubrooms for a BBQ lunch and refreshments.

The ride his open to all club members and friends on bikes or cars, old or new, so even if you don’t have an old or small bike you are very welcome to come along on what you have, but it will be a fairly slow ride with the little bikes leading the way. Hope to see you there.

PS. We will also be having a morning ride on 26/11/23 (Revival Weekend) to The Old Workshop at Anakie for a coffee if anyone is interested in a morning ride before going to the Revival. Also starting at the clubrooms in Bellarine St around 9.00am. Regards Mal

Red plate Monday ride report 20/11/23.

14 riders met up this morning for a Red Plate ride to the Pier St cafe / restaurant in Portarlington. The weather was perfect for a ride, with clear skies and warm temperatures.

The riders enjoyed a scenic ride down through the Bellarine Peninsula, and they arrived at the cafe in good spirits. The riders enjoyed the coffee and treats then had some time for relaxing and chatting before heading back home.

Brian O’Connor set a new fashion statement by tucking one trouser leg in and the other out. This new look was met with mixed reactions from the other riders, but it certainly got people talking!

2023 AGM Report

Wow what a great Annual General Meeting last night, and a perfect way to launch the new clubrooms. Thanks to Bott for the great BBQ, and thanks Bernie for filling in for Beak in his absences.

Congrats to everyone who was elected to a committee position, and thank you for your ongoing commitment to help and support the Club.

Red Plate Monday Ride Report 13-11-23.

18 Motorcycle riders joined our Monday ride led by Guy Perdrisat to the Lethbridge General Store via Ceres, Pollocksford, Bannockburn, Sutherland Creek, Maud then into Lethbridge .

A very pleasant and relaxing ride in perfect weather, nice to see a few newer faces among the regulars enjoying the company and a chat.

Red Plate Monday Ride Report 06-11-23

It was a perfect day for riding with 24 bikes joining in. I think we almost broke our Red Plate Monday attendance record, Nice work everyone !

The weather was clear and sunny, and the roads were dry. We decided to spread out a bit without corner marshalling and told everyone to go whichever way they choose, but to meet in Birregurra in about an hour for a coffee and chat at the Birregurra General Store

Most chose to go Via Ceres, Gnarwarre to Cape Otway Rd and then onto the designated stop in the Main Street of Birregurra.

All arrived safe and a great chat was had before splitting up and making our own way back home, A round trip of about 150 km for most.

It was a great day out and all attendees enjoyed ourselves, Hope to see you an next weeks Monday Red Plate Ride.

2023 SMCC Poker Ride Report

What a great ride it was today, another very successful club event, thank you to everyone who help organise the event, and thank you to everyone who joined in the ride.

Over 50 people joining in today, with an amazing mix of machines, from classic enduro all the way through to ultra modern super bikes, plus two fantastic classic cars.

It was the perfect introduction to the new clubrooms with the new car park area providing ample space for members to congregate while completing the signing in process.

Winners are grinners as you can see, with Mal taking home a handful of folding cash for collecting the strongest poker hand along the 80+ km journey.

80% of the pool collected today being donated to the club, which I’m sure will help with some of the cost of relocating to the new clubrooms.

Another winner was Lenny, who won the very prestigious “Pig’s Ear” award for His sparkling new KTM690 which would feel at home under Toby Price on the Dakar Rally, but today never left the bitumen for fear of it getting Dusty !.

Thanks again to everyone for making it such a successful event. If you have any photos or videos from today to share, please feel welcome to do so here.

Cheers,

Great meeting last night. 24-10-23

With an excellent turn out from Members, The lucky door prize was drawn at random, and Dave Stewart’s number was drawn! , but unfortunately Dave wasn’t present at the meeting to collect so the lucky door prize will jackpot to the next meeting, make sure you attend the meetings so if your number is drawn you can collect your winnings!

Member Marty brought along his 1995 Yamaha YZF600, which he acquired in Feb this year and used his extensive hands on skills to completely strip the bike down to nuts and bolts, cleaning, fixing & replacing whatever he found to be sub standard or non original. Marty also provided a slideshow to accompany his presentation which showed the projects steps, including hand polishing the frame and swing arm with watchmakers metal polish, that is dedication to the job !

Thanks Marty for bringing your bike along, a very impressive bike and an example of your skills..If any members are interested in showing their machine at the next show n tell (28/11), please put your hand up.
