Another Fantastic meeting last night 23/07/24

A excellent turn out last night for the 2nd meeting of the month, unfortunately the HRA Salt lake record holding Harley just would not fit through the door of the clubrooms, So Guest Speaker Denis Ackland (rider of the record holding Salt Lake bike) was kind enough to bring along is own race bike.

His 1995 XLH1200 Harley track race bike, which he races in the Bears F4 Class, Denis spoke about his life and times in competition riding, working with Team Kawasaki factory race team, Starting the Mega Cycles business, Super Bikes mechanic until 2012, Roaring Sportys Class, Also Spoke about riding the HRA – Andrew Hallam Salt Racer MPG2000 class to a land speed record in South Australia.

Big thanks to Denis for his coming from Melbourne and presenting to the club,

Plans are to bring the HRA record holding Harley along when the weather improves and the days get longer, for an outdoor presentation at the clubrooms – Will post info with lots of warning. 👍

Always a great night, so hope to see you there.

4th Sunday Club Ride This Sunday 23rd

The Sporting Motorcycle Club is hosting its popular 4th Sunday Ride, offering riders a thrilling combination of dirt and road adventures this coming Sunday 23rd.

The ride will take riders to the charming town of Forrest, with two distinct options to cater to different riding disciplines.

For those seeking an adrenaline-pumping off-road experience, Beak will lead the way on a bush adventure ride to Forrest. This challenging route promises to take riders through semi rugged terrain, testing their skills and offering breathtaking natural vistas of the Otways.

Alternatively, for those who prefer a scenic coastal journey, Jumbo will guide riders along the iconic Great Ocean Road. This route will showcase the stunning coastline, passing through picturesque towns like Lorne and Skenes Creek before meeting up with the dirt riders in Forrest.

Both groups are expected to arrive in Forrest around midday, where they can enjoy a well-deserved break with refreshments, food, and the opportunity to socialise with fellow riders. The ride will conclude with a leisurely return journey into Geelong..

Riders are to meet at the Bellarine St club rooms at 9:00 am for a 9:30 am departure. The weather forecast predicts a fresh start to the day, but with the sun expected to emerge and temperatures reaching a comfortable 14 C, it promises to be perfect riding weather.

So dust off that bike, pull on your thermals, Spread the word and hope to see you there.
