Ron McGuinness

The Club recently received the sad news that Club Life Member Ron McGuinness had passed away.

Ron was a early & active member of the Sporting Motorcycle Club as you can see by being the 3rd member to be inducted as a Club life member.

An honour given to members who have made a significant & lasting contribution to the club, Ron’s activity, participation & contributions to the club over the years were always greatly appreciated.

Ron’s activities in the club & also in the wider community made Him very well respected by his fellow members & competitors.

Ron was competitive in just about every racing discipline available in the early days of motorcycle racing.

He was especially successful on his Vincent 1000, which has been described as an absolutely scary machine,

Ron was a true pioneer of motorcycle racing, and his accomplishments on the Vincent 1000 are still remembered today.

The Sporting Motorcycle Club members extend their heartfelt condolences to his son David, Ron’s family and friends.

R.I.P. Ron.
